If you’re anything like me, you just don’t venture to Opry Mills EVER, unless you have visitors in town. The hassle of parking and time involved just aren’t worth it. That said, I have found a new reason to make the journey, Bavarian Bierhaus Nashville.

This massive beer hall opened up recently. I actually went on the 1st day, but with all the kinks being worked out I thought it would be fairer to give them some time to start getting things running smoothly.

There are tons of great German beers. There is only one local beer from Nashville Brewing Company. It is a beer brewed exclusively for them and that is the only one that I can pronounce.

There are three sizes of glasses with the biggest one being 1 Liter. The metric system has always baffled me, but it's a massively big beer. You can also find beer on tap from the oldest brewery in the world, Weihenstephan.

The menu is littered with brats, schnitzel and authentic Bavarian food. I have yet to experience the beer cheese soup though (which I hear is fantastic).

The small pretzel is misleading because this thing is massive. I now need to see what the giant pretzel looks like. This pretzel is imported from Bavaria and served with sweet mustard. I also got a side of warm bier cheese and sweet mustard.

Classic Reuben Sandwich at Bavarian Beirhaus
Maybe the best Classic Reuben I have ever had

Reuben’s are one of my favorite sandwiches and this is maybe one of the best I have ever had. The corned beef was no joke. Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 Island and Rye bread are such an amazing combination.

I have a weird obsession with bathrooms. No matter where I go I always need to check out the bathrooms. I feel that you can tell a lot about a place by how the bathroom is decorated and maintained. In the urinals, there is a little soccer goal and soccer ball. It is fun and makes a game out of going to the bathroom.

There are a few areas that I can to point to as some areas that I would like to see improvements in. The fries aren’t that good. For all the unique food and drinks that you can’t get anywhere else in town, the fries are pretty ordinary and run of the mill. The food and drinks are also big and bold. That tends to lead to messy meals. There are not enough napkins and the quality of napkins don’t necessarily lend themselves to being effective. A couple times I have seated myself at the bar and I have noticed a very slow acknowledgment and little response and interaction from the workers behind the bar. I would have anticipated a more fun, exciting environment. Maybe they save that till later in the night.

This is a fun place. I am sure as they get into their groove, it will get better. It’s not a cheap place to visit, but everything is really good and satisfying. l have and will be back.
